Svitlana Matvienko

Svitlana Matvienko is a Chairwoman of the Board of the Agency for Legislative Initiatives (Agency) since December 2015. Since July 2016 Ms. Matvienko has been engaged in the project "Promoting Democratic Political Culture in Verkhovna Rada through Political Dialogue and Ethical Standards", the Agency`s project in cooperation with OSCE ODIHR, Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) and with the support of MATRA program of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In terms of the project Svitlana aims at improving the quality of parliamentary process through the support of the interparty dialogue, promotion of ethical standards within the parliament and developing the Code of Conduct for the MPs. Prior to that Svitlana Matvienko worked as a Programme Coordinator at the Ukrainian School of Political Studies, a joint project of the Agency for Legislative Initiatives and the Council of Europe, managing program activities, School Club, individual development programs, and alumni community. Besides that, since 2007 Ms. Matvienko has been managing different projects of the Agency on civic and political education, democratic dialogue, monitoring activities of the parliament, and other public authorities, election legislation, political parties, combating corruption, budget and administrative decentralisation, and local self-governance. Svitlana holds a master degree in philosophy from National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" and Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, and is a PhD candidate in philosophy at National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy".
